Actually that is very plausible !! Sherlcok Holmes's brother Mycroft worked in Government but it is speculated that he was actually head of the British Secret Service of the day ! So Holmes may very well have been employed by them on occasions and if you look at the stories he was, take Bruce Partington Plans for example. Mycroft Holmes brought Holmes to the attention of missing top secret papers !! And one could argue the same applies in Second Stain !

So yes Sherlock Holmes, special agent could well be very plausible !! Wink

I remember that he did some 'special works' in Orient during that time when everybody thought he was dead after Reichenbach. So, here it is, Holmes, the first Secret Agent 007 in history Cool

Oh yes !! I'd forgotten about that. Holmes travelled to Tibet, Norway and Kartoumn but i had forgotten he went to the Orient too. Well i think that seals it, he was also working for Mycroft in the three year hiatus !! Wink

In a way, I'm glad he never got the parts of Bond that he auditioned for. I don't like the idea of him being so much of an "action hero".
